About
Who we are! (Forget Me Not)
In 2016. three Camden County residents Dianne Torgersen, Denise Oravec, and David Schmitz who had personal connections to Alzheimer’s disease decided that Camden County should have its own Alzheimer’s Walk; so that members of the local Alzheimer’s community did not have to travel to Glynn County to participate in a Walk.
In 2018, this group of individuals put together the largest 3rd party (independent) Alzheimer’s Walk in the State of Georgia. From 2016-2018, the Camden County Walk raised over $120,000 for the national Alzheimer’s organization. Unfortunately, none of this money benefited the citizens of our community
In 2019, the steering committee made the decision to start our own non-profit and keep these funds here to support our local residents and caregivers, while as our Mission Statement says still supporting research for a cure.
This year we will build on our success of the last seven years and continue to Not Forget our community of caregivers and neighbors struggling with this disease.
